What is involved
The first visit to the study center is when the initial health assessments are carried out, including a chest radiograph. You'll be asked about your medical history, some blood samples will be taken and your HS lesions and abscesses will be examined.
The treatment part of the Ivy Study lasts for 16 weeks, and you will need to take the study medication you are given every day. In total, you will need to make 10 visits to the study center over approximately 6 months for various health assessments.
There are 3 different investigational treatments and their matching placebos. You may be asked to take 2, 4 or 5 tablets a day depending on your study treatment group, and you may receive a placebo (inactive medicine) instead of investigational medication. No one taking part in the study, or any members of the study team, will know which study drug you are taking. A placebo is often used in clinical studies to make sure it's the medication that is responsible for delivering any benefits seen.
Throughout the Ivy Study, your HS symptoms will be monitored. You will also be given an electronic diary with questionnaires for you to complete.
The Ivy Study could be an option for you if:
- you are aged 18 - 75
- you have a diagnosis of moderate to severe HS
- you have HS lesions in two different locations on your body
There are other requirements for participation in the study. The study doctor will be able to explain these to you.
